Write for Triangle Offense!
We’re looking for contributors to Triangle Offense. We’re especially interested in people with strong writing skills who have an appreciation for the color, the flavor and the lore of sport. We want people who can bring passion, insight and humor to their reporting; we’re less interested in by-the-book recaps of games—that’s what daily newspapers and ESPN are for. Instead, we’re looking for writers with wit, sass and smarts, who aren’t afraid to be opinionated.
Here’s how it works: Writers are assigned a beat—a single team or certain topic—and are asked to make it as interesting as possible and to post regularly. It is vital for writers to produce clean copy that requires minimal editing.
At present, we’re focused on the following organized sports:
- Pro hockey (Carolina Hurricanes)
- Pro baseball (Durham Bulls)
- College football (Local ACC)
- College basketball (Local ACC, men and women)
- Pro and college soccer (Carolina RailHawks and local ACC, men and women)
This list could grow, if we have the contributors to support it.
In most cases, we are able to secure press access to games.
If you’re interested, please send clips of your work to triangleoffense@indyweek.com. Tell us a little about yourself, too. We STRONGLY prefer people with a background in journalism, but it’s also true that sometimes good writing has no such pedigree.
WE ARE ALSO LOOKING for an editorial intern. This would be an opportunity to help maintain the site and develop its features. Contact us at triangleoffense@indyweek.com if this interests you.
