Step a-w-a-y from that sink …

As they say about the weather, everybody talks about this drought, but they don’t do anything about it … or to be fair, they do a little, but they/we/I need to do a helluva lot more — because it’s a crisis, and if we run out of water, it’ll be a disaster. So in that vein, I think the best idea Thomas Crowder’s come up with so far — and our District E (correction, per the Crowder “comment” below — sorry about that) District D city council member has a lot of good ideas, on this and other subjects — is paper plates. Require restaurants to use paper plates. And cups. Immediately. No washing.

But I’ll go him one better. (Or maybe he’s already said this.) The city could use its buying power to purchase and distribute — free of charge — thousands of millions of paper plates to city residents as well as the residents of every town that buys Raleigh’s water. I think it would then sink in, more than it has to date, that this is a crisis, and we all need to be on a water-war footing to address it. No exceptions. Biodegradable paper plates, naturally.

Chinet, from your local store, can be composted. I can show you in my back yard.

Thank you for the kind words regarding my thoughts on water conservation; however I represent District D, not District E. They do rhyme though.
