Vernon Robinson, this is your life.
Here’s Vernon Robinson today.
Want to see what he looked like, oh, 15 years ago? And hear his latest anti-Brad Miller radio ad? I’m posting this as a public service, on the theory that we’re all adults here and can make up our own minds about it. (Children, please do not click, lest your view of America be irrecovably poisoned by the thought that Vernon’s venom is what our democracy has come to.)
Indeed, Vernon himself explains his rather rancid view of the electorate this way:
“The lighthearted, parody style may not be a favorite of you more serious types who prefer more somber discussion, but trust me on this - I have learned that there are some voters who simply cannot be reached with that kind of dialogue. They won’t tune in unless you amuse them, even entertain them - particularly the marginal voters who will sometimes go into the voting booth and just flip a coin.”

As disgracefully cynical and manipulative as Robinson’s attitude is, we have seen that the Coulter / Limbaugh strategy of spewing venemous nonsense, then claiming it’s all just a joke when the defamation lawsuits start getting filed, has become a standard ploy for the GOP.
After all, if elections should ever become a contest of ideas, argued in an orderly fashion, the GOP would be swept out of virtually every office in the country in a matter of a few election cycles.
Robinson has to play the role of vicious brownshirt, exploiting stereotypes and using pre-packaged soundbites from the right-wing propaganda mills, to have any chance of winning at all.
Don’t expect any rationality from the man - as it would be political suicide for him.
